Rosalyn D'Mello

In response to Paulo Nazareth’s ‘counter-ritual’, an artistic strategy involving walking backwards to allow for embodied, restorative healing of intergenerational trauma, Rosalyn D’Mello performs a counterclockwise walkthrough of the exhibition. A recent marital immigrant to South Tyrol who traces her origins to Portuguese-occupied Goa, she metabolises her self-ascribed position as a ‘nonnative informer’ in the process of ‘becoming indigenous’. She harnesses this with her experience as a feminist author and art critic from India seasoned in the alchemy of transforming pain into power.
