On the occasion of the 22nd Contemporary Art Day, organised by AMACI, the Association of Italian Museums of Contemporary Art, we invite you to join us for a programme featuring the Viennese collective Mai Ling, artist and writer Rosalyn D’Mello, and the exhibition’s curators.
At the heart of the day is "A Migratory Teahouse: In Between Cups and Places", a participatory performance by the Mai Ling collective that transforms a mobile, modular kitchen into a space for encounter, exchange, and shared experiences. The project opens up a dialogue around migration, visibility, and belonging, exploring questions such as where migrants can make themselves visible, how they can claim spaces as their own, and how they can shape them through care and collective practices.
Inspired by the tradition of teahouses in Sichuan, the kitchen becomes a shared infrastructure that brings together different migration stories, places, and experiences of belonging.
Program:
10 a.m. – Participatory procession from the Wandelhalle to Kunsthaus Meran
11 a.m. – Interactive jam-making activity with Rosalyn D’Mello
2 p.m. – Auditory and olfactory experience with the Mai Ling collective
4 p.m. – Guided tour of the exhibition with curators Lucrezia Cippitelli and Simone Frangi
Admission to Kunsthaus Meran is free throughout the day.
